He is renowned internationally for his innovative and brilliantly colored glass objects which explore color and line. These include free flowing, and specially engineered glass ceilings often alluding to natural phenomena or ocean currents, organic undulating and multi part chandeliers, reflective fountain sculptures, curving and interconnected bowls, translucent and transparent vases adorned with vegetation as well as spherical objects that are pure pleasure for the eyes in their endless exploration of color and reflection.

A native of Tacoma, Washington, he first studied interior design and architecture, then sculpture and glassblowing. After losing the sight in one eye {he has become famous for the eye patch over his left eye} he creates his designs on paper or canvas and guides a team of expert glass craftsmen to carry out his vision.

His exhibition at the de Young Museum in San Francisco highlights some of his masterpieces of glassmaking. The exhibition has attracted thousands of visitors per day, a number greater than any other exhibit. Visitors, among them many children, seem to leave the galleries with a smile and a feeling of joy and wonderment.
