Baudouin Prot is Chairman of the Board of BNP Paribas, France’s largest bank, for a term that expires in 2014.  He was Chief Executive Officer of the bank from 2003 to 2011, and has been a member of its Board of Directors since 2000.

Mr. Prot holds degrees in business administration from the École des Hautes Études Commerciales and public administration from the École Nationale d’Aministration.  After graduation, Mr. Prot worked in the French civil service, first as Deputy Head of the Prefect Office of Franche-Compté, one of the French administrative districts, and then as Finance Inspector – French Treasury, and Deputy Head of the Energy and Commodities Division in the French Ministry of Industry.  In 1983, he joined BNP.

In 2006, Mr. Prot was named “Financier of the Year”, a prize organized by ANDESE and INVESTIR, in partnership with Finifo, for the person who has most contributed to the development of the finance industry in France during the year.  The prize was in recognition of BNP’s acquisition of the Italian bank Banca Nazionale del Lavoro, which gave BNP Paribas a second retail market in Europe.  In 2007, he was awarded the “Social and Corporate Responsibility” award by the Foreign Policy Association (FPA).  Noel Lateef, President and CEO of the FPA, said the award was given for the extraordinary efforts of BNP Paribas in the aid provided to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
