Success – It All Begins With A Dream

The word suc·cess /səkˈses/ is defined as “a person that achieves desired aims or attains prosperity”, with the key word being “desired”.

In other words, whatever you want to achieve, it begins with a dream.  Your desire, your idea, your thought starts slowly growing, then it begins to occupy your mind all the time, evolving into a dream.

Your dream might be about:

~ Becoming an advocate for human rights

~ Inventing the next thing that will revolutionize the world

~ Becoming an Olympian, an accomplished actor or a bestselling author

~ You name it!

The dream is not a “nice to have” but “must have”!  That strong passion gives you the energy and the motivation to take action and get rid of any roadblocks.  You have to “really want to be successful.

But is the dream enough?  Sadly, no!  Most people have the dream but don’t know what to do with it.  The next step is to develop a strategy built on clear, detailed, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-defined goals.  You have to be able to make tough choices about what you will pursue and what you won’t.

Now you have a plan that needs to be executed.  But how do you do that exactly?  Usually time and resources are limited during this phase.  For example, you may have a full-time job and try to go after your goals in your spare time.  If you also have a family and kids, that spare time may not be a lot.

So be smart about it!  You need to learn to get things done quickly and efficiently on a doable basis.  Why doable?  Because you need to keep doing it every day!  To be productive, you have to implement life hacks for various areas of work and life – planning, prioritizing, technology, managing emails, delegating, eating and sleeping right, exercising, spending time with family and more.

Which brings us to the other side of the productivity coin – habits.  Do you have the right habits to reach your goals?  A habit is an action that you can perform without thinking, which is carried out at a deep subconscious level.

For you to successfully put any productivity tip into action, you must make it a habit. It’s about doing things without the need to analyze, and with minimal effort.  Habits also allow you to execute your goals with discipline, day after day.

Many successful people did not have money, an Ivy League education or family support but they had a DREAM.  What is yours?
