As we venture out into our world, travel can consist of a day visit to the closest towns or a journey that will place our feet clear on the other side of the world. It is all about discovery and about everywhere we walk. So, COME – EXPLORE WITH ME.
Thailand holidays are some of the best getaways you can have!
Many tourists who travel to Bangkok, or Krung Thep, the City of Angels, as it is known to its inhabitants, are overwhelmed by the size of the cities and the number of attractions.
There are a wide variety of sightseeing opportunities spanning more than two centuries of rapid development following the founding of the country in 1782. Since that date, Bangkok has grown to a cosmopolitan city of more than 10 million people. The size of the city and the bustling streets can be intimidating, but can quickly become enchanting from its exotic temples, which show the strong Buddhist history, to its modern shopping malls. The Grand Palace, situated in the heart of Rattanakosin Island, is between the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and The Temple of Dawn.
Many canals connect the winding Chao Phraya River earning Bangkok the nickname Venice of the East. You can enjoy a visit to a floating market; or take a back alley visit on the canals to different parts of the city.
Museums are a perfect place to learn of the culture of the country.
The National Museum, the Vimanmek Mansion Museum, and Suan Pakkad Palace all house wonderful treasures. I enjoyed going to the cemeteries, yes, cemeteries. The artistry and
decorations are spectacular. The downtown district has an electric rail system, including an elevated sky train and an underground subway.
Outside of the city there are other interesting things to do.
We went to the famous River Kwai Bridge (immortalized in the film “Bridge on the River Kwai”), took the train to Burma, saw elephants in the jungle, and bought souvenirs in the remotest of places.
Thailand also has beautiful beaches and resorts. So on your trip be sure to visit not only the cities but tour the inland areas. Then head to the beach and relax.
