The Doc’s Character
Chapter Three of Nine
Developing Dr. Sneezles’ character was in some ways very easy. I was already a “normal” clown, so the Dr. was a natural progression. I needed a name, a costume, and the routines.
The costume is basically a general homage to a “real” doctor with a bit of clown pizzazz thrown in. His “medical” training came from the United States Nasal Academy with a Degree in Sneeziology. (Oddly enough, Tim graduated from an institute with a similar name.) All that was left were the routines, or shtick.
Knowing his entertainment strengths has helped Dr. Sneezles perform. Some, or most of the shtick from TJ the Clown transposed directly into Sneezles. Sight gags and puns make up a large majority of the jokes, as you can see from the pictures associated with the articles. As it is said, “a pun is its own re-word.”
So there you have it, the genesis of the Doctor.
Laughter is the best medicine…unless you’re really hurt, then you should call 911.
