Don’t Forget the Caregivers

Chapter Seven of Nine

The caregivers, be they family, friend, or professional should also be included in any humor therapy.  It’s tough to watch a loved one go through the illness process.  Dr. Sneezles was partially developed as a way to help him cope during his own care-giving journey.

Hope everything is ok.

Humor can help relieve anxiety for the caregiver.  It’s easy to be too clinical with the family.  Most family members don’t have the medical training to comprehend and can get overwhelmed by “Doctor-ese;” a bit of translation from a nurse can be of great assistance.

Caregivers also use humor to cope.  There were a number of instances where humor broke the mood and gave everybody a surge of endorphins.

Laughter is the best medicine…unless you’re really hurt, then you should call 911.
