Feed the hunger – it’s simple, yet brilliant

Chapter Four Of Four

Have you ever been hungry?

I’m not talking about that rumble in your stomach because you missed lunch but that very real fear of not actually knowing when your next meal is coming.

We are so blessed in this country; so blessed in fact that we waste over $31 billion worth of food each year; perfectly good, meat, fruit, vegetables and dairy.  Fortunately, there is a growing trend around the world to address this issue of wasted food.  In fact, Second Harvest, Canada’s largest food rescue organization has been approached by people globally looking to replicate our model because they are fed up and want to make a difference.

Why Second Harvest?  Well it’s a simple, yet brilliant approach to redistribute wasted food to over 225 partner agencies feeding more than 200,000 people in the city experiencing hunger.  We are the experts!  It’s estimated that the number of food insecure Torontonians will increase to over 380,000 in the next five years, many of these are vulnerable children and seniors.  We need your help!
