Royal Langkawi Yacht Club

Royal Langkawi Yacht Club

Malaysia’s largest marina is located on the island of Langkawi in Kuah Harbour, off the north-west coast of the country and beside the island’s ferry terminal, providing easy access to both Malaysia and Thailand.  It looks out on to an archipelago containing 104 jungle-covered islands, of which only two are populated.

Since its inception in 1996, the club has grown from a 44-berth marina to the current 200 berths, including four berths for mega-yachts up to 90 meters.  Designed to blend into the natural coast line and landscape of its surroundings, the main building is shaped to look like a ship’s hull pointing towards the open sea.  The airy, open-design clubhouse contains a restaurant and infinity swimming pool, with a direct view of the popular tourist spot of Pulau Dayang Bunting (Pregnant Maiden Island).  Fisherman’s Wharf, a recent expansion of the club, offers 44 hotel rooms with beautiful views of the harbor.

The first Royal Langkawi International Regatta was held in 2003 and is now an annual five-day event in which 50 boats from around the world compete.
