Vogue UK – Even by his own extravagant, sequin-spangled standards, Michael Halpern’s first year in business has been marked by spectacular high points. Winning the British Fashion Award for emerging talent, dressing Lupita Nyong’o in absinthe-green sequins for the Star Wars premiere and being called the next big thing by none other than Donatella Versace (who also hired him to consult on her couture collection) were just some of his “pinch me” moments. His challenge for 2018 is to keep up the blistering pace he’s set and his latest salvo is a special capsule collection with Browns (which launches on Thursday, February 15). Called “After Midnight”, it riffs on his vivacious party silhouettes (flared jumpsuits, draped bustiers and spangled high-necked minidresses) and but in a darker, more gritty way. “Specifically, it’s what you’d be wearing after midnight. And it’s not as colourful as my other collections. It’s a little bit more mysterious, it’s a little bit darker, it’s as if there a bit of smoke everywhere,” explains the designer…
